How To Nurture Creativity At Work

There are 2 aspects of creativity at work namely i) creative thinking and ii) creative problem solving. To know one of it is good. But to understand and implement both… is better.

I have a list with me of 13 ways on how to foster and nurture our creativity at work. And am sure the list keeps on going and adding. However today, I will only give 3 of it (so that you can call me later for a full training package on this topic J).

1)      Good communication. Talk with the ‘same language’ with everybody that we work with. Make sure that all employees / workers well known about our policy, our core values, our mission and our vision. All of us would like to make the world a better place. But how many of us have a plan for how we going to do that? Well… its all start with a good communication.
2)      Don’t be critical on ideas. I read somewhere… “it takes 10 bad ideas to reach a good and implementable one good idea.” There is no bad ideas, similar to there is no stupid question. It is just how we look at the opportunity and change it to become a reality at workplace. This I saw as one of the core of creativity at work.
3)      Leave your ego. Psychologically, each individual is having 3 parts of his/her psyche (though it is usually unconsciously understand) – id, ego and superego. The only part that conscious to us is… the ego. Leadership at work place isn’t all about you; it’s about serving the vision and the people who will make it come alive (Blanchard, et. al.). With a good practice, together we can develop passionate and engaged team members in our company and acting as one system.

Happy working day to all.
